We will not give money! Japan denied reports of compensation for tourists

The Agency for Tourism Affairs of Japan refutes media reports about the Government's plans to stimulate foreign tourism by compensating part of the expenses of tourists who have travelled to Japan. This is reported on May 27 on the official website of the agency. It is stressed that the Japanese authorities are indeed developing such plans, but this is a social program designed to support local tourism, which will apply only to Japanese citizens. Recall, earlier Japanese media reported about the plans of the Government of Japan to introduce vouchers for tourists from July of this year, compensating them up to 20 thousand yen (about $185) a day, which they can exchange for the services of local shops and restaurants.
