In China, more than 12 thousand malicious sites were closed

China closed more than 12,000 illegal and harmful websites in the first half of 2020, the National Directorate for Combating Pornographic and Illegal Publications reported on July 9. More than 1,800 cases involving pornography and illegal publications were solved in six months. More than 8.4 million pieces of harmful information were removed as part of a campaign to clean up the country's cyberspace. Law enforcers focused on streaming video, short videos, social networks and online literature. The authorities intend to continue to protect the country's population from unwanted information.
