Top US infectious disease activist warns of dangerous coronavirus mutation

The coronavirus mutation may SARS-Cov-2 make it more contagious, Anthony Fauci, head of the US National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases, warned on July 2 during a video conference. There is simply an assumption that the virus breeds better and can be transmitted more easily. So far, this is at the verification stage, he said. Fauci added that now scientists are looking for confirmation of this assumption, but the available data indicate the possibility of a virus mutation that accelerates its replication. Earlier, Fauci said that the United States is ready for the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
